Lone Star Play Ball is a Non-Profit recreational co-ed softball league for people with Special Needs!
Participants will be playing against each other in this non-competitive CO-ED SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL GAME. All players hit and take a position on defense when on the field. Each participate will be paired with a Volunteer/Buddy to ensure the safety of each player.
We are actively seeking volunteers of all ages from High school students to Grandparents. These positions serve as buddies next to the player on the field of play. These crucial safety positions, lasting about 1.5 hours on a Saturday, are the main instruments allowing this gift to be enjoyed by our players. Afterwards; I believe you will agree, you will be the one receiving the gift.
Our league needs the following:
- Volunteers to serve as player buddies - to help the players as they run the bases, field, and bat, and to provide for their safety at all times.
- Volunteers to serve as team coaches - two to three individuals per team.
- A league photographer.
- Volunteers to assist with fund raising throughout the year - even though the league charges a nominal registration fee, it only covers a portion of the cost. The league is still dependent on donations.
Our mission is to empower, encourage, and support individuals in exploring and developing their talents in spite of physical, learning, or other challenges.
Lone Star Play Ball is a non-profit 501C-3 corporation. League operations are funded by program fees and tax deductible contributions of individuals and businesses.
